Lilleshall Welcomes World Snooker for Players' Event

Aug 01, 2025 | News

We were delighted to welcome the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA) to Lilleshall last week for their Player Support Programme event.

The event saw a range of players in attendance, including those turning professional for the first time. They used Lilleshall as a meeting place to discuss the sports development, playing conditions and financial management.

The WPBSA took advantage of the Queens Hall lecture theatre to deliver talks – including from British Gymnastics athlete Bryony Page who is based at Lilleshall. Players and staff also used the accommodation at Lilleshall and took advantage of the on-site catering facilities.

Neil Tomkins, WPBSA Players Chief Operating Officer, said: “We first started coming to Lilleshall over 25 years ago so we’re well accustomed to the facilities here.

“We’ve been bringing this players event to Lilleshall for the past three years. It’s a great setting, it’s used to accommodating high performing athletes and it’s exactly the sort of environment we want our players in. We used to do this as a day event but we’ve now expanded to overnight, so it’s been great experiencing the accommodation facilities here.

“The team here are always on hand to make sure the event runs smoothly and hopefully we’ll be back the same time next year.”
