New ’World Class’ Astroturf Pitches Unveiled

On the 1st September 2009 Lilleshall National Sports Centre unveiled 2 brand new ’World Class’ floodlit artificial pitches one for hockey and one for football, available to the local community, school/college and elite users. The first pitch is a permanent hockey pitch and is a 'Polygrass Europa' surface and is the only one of its kind outside of Asia, the same surface which was used at the Beijing Olympics.



The second pitch is a 'Tiger Turf' surface for football and hockey and again is of a 'World Class' standard. Both pitches are now available for bookings which can be done by contacting Lilleshall National Sports Centre directly.

England Hockey have already used the facility, along with plenty of community users and local schools, the excellent feedback has been flooding in but a representative from England Hockey fed back the following:

“England Hockey intend to make Lilleshall the home of Junior Hockey and this is a fantastic facility that is ideal for our Junior International programmes and other events. Staff were most helpful and always ensured that we had what was required whether it was food, equipment or facilities, nothing was too much trouble.”
