Lilleshall Welcomes StreetGames
Lilleshall National Sports Centre was pleased to welcome back StreetGames over a two day residential stay during April. The group use the facility to primarily hold a conference but also showcase the range of sports, games and activities that people from disadvantaged communities are able to take part in. Pretty much most of the Centre was in use from Ford Hall, the Lecture Theatre and also Wenlock car park where a 1v1 football cage was set up for demonstrations.
The main speaker over the two day conference was Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe MP. Other key figures to address delegates included Hannah Bladen from Sport England, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears, who recorded a video message for delegates, Kelly Simmons, the FA's Head of National Games, and StreetGames Ambassador and former Olympian Diane Modahl.

Lee Moore comments, "Lilleshall creates the perfect venue to make these types of events successful because of the range of facilities available to visitors. Visiting groups like StreetGames find it ideal because there is adequate indoor space for demonstrations and exhibitions, plenty of meeting rooms including the Lecture Theatre and the flexibility to erect equipment such as the 1v1 football cage."
Launched in 2007, StreetGames is the only national charity dedicated to developing sport with disadvantaged communities and making sport accessible to young people regardless of their social circumstances. We help individuals develop their sports and leadership skills through participation and volunteering, fulfil their ambitions and help bring communities closer together via sport.
