Lilleshall Welcome Manchester United Youngsters

During September Lilleshall National Sports Centre were proud to welcome the future stars of Manchester United and possibly England by playing host to Manchester United Academy. Once again, as with every group that visit Lilleshall, every effort was made by all departments and members of staff to make them feel as welcome as possible.

It was a great pleasure for Lilleshall to play host to the academy as it is the core of the youth setup at Manchester United, and has been responsible for producing some of Manchester United's greatest ever players, including the club's top five all-time appearance makers, Ryan Giggs, Bobby Charlton, Bill Foulkes, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, and the new wave of home-grown talents known as Fergie's Fledglings. In 2007 the Academy were the inaugural winners of the Champions Youth Cup, intended to be a Club World Championship for youth sides, beating Juventus 1–0 in the final in Malaysia.

A member of Manchester United Academy’s staff commented that they had a “First class stay” and that they “could not praise the Centre and its staff enough, a big thank you to all on site.” After making such a great impression, they have already booked for 2010.

Lee Moore said “I have to pay tribute to my team who bent over backwards to help the Manchester United Academy Squad and make them feel welcome during their week long stay. It was a pleasure to welcome Manchester United Academy to the Centre, both Manchester United and Lilleshall have a proud history in nurturing some of the countries finest young talent so it was fitting that such a team should visit and be made to feel so welcome.“
