England's Senior Women Train at Lilleshall
After three days of intensive training at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, England's senior Women played an international friendly at Shrewsbury Town's ProStar Stadium. The pitches at the Centre had been immaculately prepared for the visit with the players being one of the first groups to train on the summer pitches.
It has been a busy year for Lilleshall's grounds staff with nearly all winter football pitches being used pretty much every day due to the closure of the Astroturf facility. England visited just at the right time with the summer pitch rotation now starting, and lots of work to be done to repair any "over use" issues on the winter area.

"England celebrate the opener at Shrewsbury."
The training sessions at Lilleshall obviously paid off though as England comfortably triumphed over Norway 3-0 in front of a 4,468 crowd at Shrewsbury's stadium. Fara Williams scored one with either foot, and Lindsay Johnson headed her first ever goal for her country as Hope Powell's side maintained their progress towards Finland and Euro 2009.
